BOT Data Standard

The canonical vocabulary for building energy data across BOT's platforms — 77 field definitions covering premises, energy, metering, HVAC, controls, efficiency measures, measurement & verification, benchmarking, and emissions.

Alignment basis: 52 of the 55 BEDES-status terms are verified against the LBNL Building Energy Data Exchange Specification (BEDES) V2.5 with a documented correspondence — 14 exact-name matches and 38 mapped to BEDES term/option composites. BOT-EXT terms are BOT extensions for BAS operations and Guideline-14 M&V.

Versioning

This is version 1.0 of the BOT Data Standard, published August 2026. New terms are added by revision; a canonical field name is never renamed without a documented correction record.

BEDES attribution

BEDES — the Building Energy Data Exchange Specification — is developed by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. BEDES-status terms in this standard were verified against LBNL's published V2.5 machine-readable term and list-option exports. Three terms with no BEDES counterpart and three whose option lists differ from BEDES's are documented in the verification record. This page asserts documented correspondence, not formal BEDES-compliance certification.
